Yep this week it is a healthy dessert type Recipe FRIDAY with Carrot Cake Protein Bars. I even have a healthy frosting recipe to put on top too 🙂
I don't know about you but sometimes after eating clean, healthy foods I sometimes just get a craving for some SWEET and different tastes. This is where this recipe comes in. Gotta try different recipes and they can even be what some folks just might think of as a DESSERT. Yes you can eat desserts and still be healthy most especially if you make that dessert yourself and with healthy, REAL food and protein powder. YAY
I saw this recipe on PINTEREST - no surprise there and thought I would make some small changes and make it mine. I did the same with the chocolate frosting recipe that follows.
Here is the Recipe:
Carrot Cake Protein Bars
Ingredients1 1/2 cups oat flour 3 scoops vanilla protein or a quality vanilla meal replacement shake 1/3 c Stevia in the raw 3 egg whites 1 c almond milk 1 baby food carrot flavor 1/4 c Fage Greek Yogurt 1 lrg carrot, grated 2 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp nutmeg 2 tsp vanilla
Directions:Throw all ingredients in a mixer and mix it up. Put into pan, 8 x 8 for oven. Cook at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
Frosting:1 1/2 c chocolate protein powder 1/2 tsp vanilla slowly add almond milk till you get a frosting consistency
And that is it FOLKS! Let the cake cool down and put frosting on it and cut it up. Here are my pics. You don't HAVE TO use frosting as it tastes great with it or without it. You can also make a vanilla frosting with Vanilla protein powder which I didn't have any more of so I made chocolate 🙂
