Is Your Environment Making YOU FAT? Hmmmm


I don't know if you are ready for this but this topic is a BIGGIE! Yep a biggie as in YES your environment is really, really important to your success with 'getting and living healthy and fit, inside and out.'

Study after study after study says MAKE your environment work for YOUR lifestyle. If you are looking to get healthy and fit, then your NEW lifestyle should REFLECT that.

As you know if you have been following along here at this blog site I am an ex-smoker and ex-starver. Meaning I use to smoke a pack a day and pretty much eat just once a day and I call that starving. Especially if I compare that eating style to what I do now with my eating. Yes, I now eat 4-6 times a day.

While quitting smoking it was really, really important to STAY AWAY from those that smoked for a time WHILE giving it up. In fact, for me I would say about a few months/years lol. NOW today, I can't stand cig smoke even around me but it sure didn't start that way. Temptation around every corner. Sorta like a lot of folks talk and think about FOOD.

Yes, I firmly believe you are, to some degree, a product of your environment BUT the good news is YOU are in charge of YOUR environment. At least, if you are an adult you are.

So, what I mean is, if you are in charge of your environment and you go to the grocery store or the convenience store and you BUY a BIG bag of M&M's and bring them home, put them in a big bowl and place that bowl on the counter in your kitchen WELL? Who did that this week? This example was actually done by an old client.

So she comes to me and says:

Client: "I can't go past that bowl without eating those M&M's. I don't know what to do?"

Me - "REALLY? You don't know what to do? HOW about NOT buying the M&M's and leaving them at the store so you don't have to pass by them 50 times a day? Hmmmm How about that plan?"

Client: "Really?  Just NOT buy them? I don't know if I can do that. I always buy M&M's and leave them on the counter."

Me: "Well, let's start a new habit and STOP buying them and instead buy some APPLES and put them on your counter."

So what do YOU think? Do you think you can replace some of your unhealthy eating and lack of exercise habits into healthy eating and getting into exercise habits?

Sure you can. Anyone can do it. It starts with your beliefs and then you start making decisions based on your belief thoughts and changes will come your way.

Healthy body changes that will affect your weight, your vitality, your health and fitness.


So what about the family and friends? They are a big part of everyone's environment aren't they?

Yes, and again this too is a BIGGIE. If you keep hanging with your party friends then HOW are you to WANT to GET and LIVE healthy and fit inside and out? NONE of your party friends give a CRAP about 'getting and living healthy and fit, inside and out'.. They just care about the next party duh!

Or, how about the friends and family that insist THAT YOU eat the crap food that you have always eaten and don't TRY to change because, because you are gonna MAKE THEM UNCOMFORTABLE with their own weight, health and/or life situation.

So, Lynn and I went to a get together lately, for those that KNOW us we have been out A LOT lately so good luck guessing who this is, and this lady I swear was trying to set me up and get me to "TELL HER not to take her medications." In looking back on the conversation she kept telling me about it and saying "I think I might not take it" and I didn't say anything as well that is not my place but she would repeat it and she repeated it like 5 times.

So I found out that she and her husband just do NOT LIKE me and Lynn. I know, really, I CAN'T believe it either lol WHAT?

As some of you may or may not know (this couple knows my hubs story) my husband has some serious health situations and he has said NO to drugs for his situation for many, many years and well we have FIRM beliefs about some things BUT I wouldn't suggest that YOU DON'T take your medications. We are NOT crazy. Apparently this couple is threatened by us (WHY?) and making us out to be HEALTH nuts who are just off our rocker LOL

OK, maybe that off our rocker is TRUE but still...

Is or would this environment (hanging around these folks that can't stand us and think we are nuts) be good for US? NO! You couldn't pay me enough to hang with them again. WHY? Well, why would I? What is positive about it? Someone just looking for WHAT IS WRONG? What is wrong with me? What is wrong with you? Are you hanging with folks that FOCUS on negative all the time? Why this WON'T work or that WON'T work.

In fact, around these kinds of people NOTHING WORKS so why try. If you are hanging around folks like that are YOU like that? These types of folks, when you tell them about eating healthy and exercising to lose weight and GET HEALTHY will say to you, "It doesn't work. You are just wasting your time. Every time you try these things where do you get? Yep fatter then you were before." Hahaha I can picture this person as I have known a few peeps myself with this kind of stinkin' thinkin' going on.

Get back, get as fast as you can in the opposite direction.

The good news, YOU are in control of YOUR environment.
YOU decide who you are going to spend time with.
YOU decide what FOODS make it into your house.

It has been shown time and again that if the JUNK food is not in your house - you won't eat it 🙂 So don't BUY it and bring it HOME. If you have decided that you have a good enough reason to 'get and live healthy and fit' that you just might give some folks some distance from you EAR and  you will ONLY buy and bring home healthy foods.  Really ANYTHING is possible. SO get to IT!
