My name is Lynnette. I am a mother to two great kids, a wife and lover of all things healthy. I believe balance is the key to a happy, healthy life! Some of my favorite things in life are my family, books...I could read all day, yoga, and green drinks!!! I forgot to add coffee to that list...all things in moderation, right?
Last week I mentioned that eating or drinking something green every day is important for optimal health. Today, I am going to give you a quick and easy way to get some green goodness into your body. This green smoothie is the one the kids have every day. I add a few more things to my green drink, but this recipe is an easy one to start off with and it tastes DELICIOUS!!!
In a blender, I use a Vitamix which I really recommend if you are going to make smoothies on a regular basis, I add the following ingredients:
- 1½ cups filtered water - 2 cups organic green kale - ½ cup organic flat parsley - ½ cup frozen pineapple
Directions: Blend all ingredients for 1-2 minutes until the greens are liquefied... chunks of kale don’t go over very well. Drink up!
The drink comes out frothy and delicious. The pineapple adds just enough sweetness, which is important when you are trying to get a 7 and 9 year old to drink their greens!
After you get accustomed to this recipe, you may want to experiment with adding different greens or super foods. Here are a few that I add and that are great in a smoothie:
- 1 tsp. chia seeds
- 1 tsp. hemp seeds
- raw seeds/nuts
- flax oil
Hope you try this recipe out. It is so good for you!!!! Let me know how you like the drink or what you add to your smoothies. Happy blending!!!
