Oh yes, the Mean Green Drink is THE DRINK of juicing.
I did it. I stepped out and made my very first Juice Drink and it was a GREEN one too. Have you tried juicing yet?
Anyway, juicing is all the rage right now and has been for a few years. I've bought kale many a time so I could JUICE but, well, it never happened till today.
I don't know if I will EVER BE A REGULAR JUICER but I thought I would check it out and see if I can come up with a couple tasty, easy mixes that you and me, we might like. KIDS TOO!
MEAN GREEN DRINK
4 celery stalks
4-6 leaves of kale
1 tbsp ginger
Wash all produce well
Peel the lemon or not, however you want to roll with this
Juice or blend
Pour over ice or drink straight up
OK, well I will tell you I have a very good blender in the Vitamix and at first I put ALL the fruit and veggies in except the kale as I had read somewhere that the kale can cause probs when juicing. LOL YIKES!
That DID NOT work so well, so I took most of the veggies out and blended the apples and then I slowly put the rest of the ingredients until all were mixed and then added the kale and blended on high till it looked juiced or thoroughly blended.

If you notice in the above picture I did clean up and chop up the produce before putting in the blender.

So what did I think about this Mean Green Drink? It was good. Mixed up well and not clumpy and I liked the taste. LOVED IT? No, but it was drinkable.
I'm going to give some to the kids and hubs when they get home later and see what they think about it.
In the past, I've had quite a few people ask me WHY I DON'T JUICE and I will tell you here and now. I actually like to eat my foods unless I am really busy then I will drink a meal replacement shake and I eat LOTS OF LEAFY GREEN salads and use kale for other COOKED recipes like my Sweet Potato with Beans and Greens recipe. AND I EAT a ton of fruit. Apples and ALL fruits often, like everyday.
If I did not eat fruit and veggies salads often then I prob would look for juicing recipes that I LOVED to drink so I would get those nutrients into my healthy eating days. However, my kids don't eat quite as much veggies as me and the hubs do so I am going to occasionally try NEW juicing recipes right here in my Recipe FRIDAY blog posts till I find one that THE KIDS LOVE and then I can make that regularly for them.
